Currently, there are four different programs and applications available for calculating the Speech Intelligibility Index (SII). All three calculate the SII in accordance with the ANSI S3.5-1997 standard. The first program, a Matlab script that, owing to the concise notation available in Matlab, allows for easy analysis and modification of the code. The second program contains a C-language listing and various test files for the basic SII calculations and is intended to facilitate writing of customized SII programs. A Unix and a DOS executable versions are also provided. An Applications on iOS is also provided and is available in the Apple Store. A spreadsheet application in Excel and compatible with Numbers is also provided.
The programs and applications are not a part of the standard. Although every effort has been made to verify them, the authors give no guarantee as to the accuracy of the calculations with respect to the standard. The user assumes all liability related to the application of these programs.
The programs and their parts are copyright protected. They can be downloaded and freely used, except in commercially distributed software. If you intend to incorporate the code into commercially distributed software, please contact the appropriate author.
Before using the software, we urge potential users to familiarize themselves with the standard. The standard is available in many libraries and can also be ordered from ANSI.
